Tribals and local communities in the forest fringes depend more on the natural/forest resources for survival. They are an immense source of intrinsic traditional ecological knowledge but are unaware about the importance and use of it in the current lifestyle. We focus on the empowerment of these societies through training and education of people for the development of their livelihood using their knowledge and resources.
Ecorestoration
Engagement of man with Nature has ecological impact which is both negative and positive. Siddharth Foundation takes specific scientific studies to understand the positive as well as negative impacts of activities such as various Developmental projects and ecorestoration programmes.
Conservation research
We are involved in biodiversity documentation studies in various ecosystems for conservation action. Bird diversity study of Bharathapuzha river basin is one such programme.
As humans encroach on their land, conflict with animals has become a significant problem in all forest fringe areas of the country. We need several ecological and technological solutions to address local-specific issues. Siddharth Foundation is actively engaged in such activities and research on the topic.
Nature Education
In the modern world with Nature deficit disorders, any exposure to nature has a curative role. We conduct specifically curated nature day out programmes in the forested habitats around Coimbatore to enable the people to experience and get educated on the ways of nature.We conduct camps based on experiential learning through activities, interactive presentations, group discussions and nature trails punctuated with spaces for reflection
Media
The media division of Siddharth Foundation makes documentary films on the themes of wildlife and the conservation of nature for educational purposes.
